BEST of the BETS

Bit short of time, so only giving brief reasons for selections.

3:30 Wincanton - LIZZIE LANGTON (17/2) was only 5th of 8 here last time, but she was running from 6 lbs higher and that was a stronger race than this. Also that race probably came too quickly, and she can run better now she has had a bit of break. She looks trainer’s second string but has won here before and although jockey is 0 from 7 for trainer, he has had a couple make the frame at prices of 20/1 & 25/1.

2:10 Ascot - bit of a long shot this, but I think SMOOTH STEPPER (50/1) is not without chance in this. Having only 2nd start since joining Alex Hales from Sue Smith, trainer does well with runners he gets from other yards. Hasn’t run here before but I don’t think that will be a problem, and booking of Wayne Hutchinson catches the eye, he has ridden for Hales only 4 times before and included a 5/1 winner and 16/1 2nd.
