BEST of the BETS

Yesterday's was disappointing, but with just two days remaining I will keep trying to turn this month into a profit.

Bet #141 - 7:15 Wolverhampton - Mitigator @ 3/1

Mitigator will soon be an 8 year old but hasn't had a lot of racing for his age, 26 runs with 3 wins at career strike rate of above 10% is not bad in a weak class 6 handicap. Last win was at Kempton (11f) in March 2022 from 2 lbs higher, seems a long time ago but again he has only had 7 runs since then, finishing runner up in 3 of those mixed in with some poor runs. On only previous run over this CD he finished 3/10 from 5 lbs higher in much more competitive race than this.

Finished 2nd last time, although beaten 4 lengths, in amateur race at Chelmsford that also looked more competitive than this. Reproduction of that run should give him a good chance in this, as 3 of the 7 runners in this have never won a race.

The favourite Swing To The Stars has a chance as she is quite consistent, and you always have to respect Ian Williams horses when they are strong in market, but I do feel 5/4 is too short for a horse that is 0 from 13, and Mitigator offers good value imo.
