HAVERLAND (14/1) got off the mark last time with a clear win on heavy ground at Carlisle. Steps up in class, and quicker going is a possible concern (has been pulled out because of it before), but ran well enough on good to firm when placed at Newmarket 4 starts ago, form of that race has worked out well with 8 of the 10 runners having won since. Since handicapping, he has mostly been ridden by a 7 lbs apprentice, I think having Donohoe on board last time also contributed to improved performance and he again takes the ride today. It’s a tough race, so not confident but I feel selection maybe little better than what he has shown so far and has place chances today. I have backed it each way 14/1 (4 places) & 11/1 (5 places).
