BEST of the BETS

Not going well this week, and not very confident about today either but here goes.

6:35 Curragh - 3 last time out winners, but CUBAN HOPE (11/4) is the only one in this field to have won in handicap company, he has 3 wins from 5 since going handicapping, latest win was on Monday and he is quickly turned out under a penalty, Jim Bolger does well with this type. This is tougher so he will need to continue improving, hopefully step up in trip will bring that improvement. One worry I have is that Bolger’s previous two runners in this race were both unplaced (including one at 9/4). And the favourite has the potential to be better class and he will be suited by step up in distance judging by pedigree (dam half sister to Group 1 winner over 12f Mont Ormel), but on form shown so far I prefer Cuban Hope. Outsider Aneczka could be interesting too, Clare Cannon’s first runner at the Curragh, her half-sister Coreczka has been a money spinner for the yard but at a lower level than this. She seemed to show huge improvement last time dead heating for 1st in a maiden at Dundalk, 3rd Horse has won his next two races including a handicap off 78, she could run well if backing up that last effort but to win this from 3 lbs out of the handicap would be a big ask.
