BEST of the BETS

After a couple of poor days, could do with a winner today. No strong fancies, but tried these 4 today.

3:05 Sligo - 11 year old KYLECRUE (6/1) showed he still has enough ability when finishing 2nd at Listowel earlier this month in a race that he had won for previous 3 seasons. Had no chance at the weights last time, but back in a handicap today he could go close as he has a good record here too (2 wins and a place from 5 runs at Sligo).

4:10 Newmarket - this is a long shot, THE SPARTAN TARTAN (16/1) was last seen getting beaten 30 lengths in last year’s Irish St Leger. Fitness could be an issue but is not without a chance taking a big drop in class, and eye catching jockey booking.

4:45 Newmarket - ANOTHER ECLIPSE (4/1) didn’t get the best of runs but still managed to win at Doncaster last time. 3 lbs rise is not too bad and this looks a slightly easier race. Should have a good chance providing he handles the track (was well beaten on only previous run here but that was after an absence).

5:55 Newmarket - MAORI BOB (4/1) won on his last two runs in class 4, has struggled in better races but this looks a weak race. Ran ok on previous run at track when finishing in midfield in class 2 handicap on first run of season.
