Perfect Pasture is clear on ratings, and returning just 3 days after a good run in Ayr Gold Cup, but I have chanced one at a bigger price. COPPER KNIGHT (7/1), a winner at Newcastle earlier in the summer, unplaced on last 4 starts but had possible excuses - two of those runs were in big field handicaps at Ascot and York, he finished in midfield in both those races having been drawn on the wrong side. Goodwood possibly didn’t suit and he had little chance from stall 11 at Chester last time. Hasn’t run at Beverley before but his sire’s progeny is 4 from 18 (4 different winners) over this c&d. Favourite is the one to beat on ratings, but if he runs below form then I think my selection has a good chance. I would have preferred 8 runners in the race, but gone each way on Copper Knight anyway, hoping he can finish in first two.
