Thanks guys. Ended up with Chanceiton 3rd 9/1 (20s posted). Have to say I am very pleased with the high place strike overall. The way to go seems to be Betfair place, with very small stakes (1/20th of place singles unit stakes) win doubles and trebles to hoover up the occasional win doubles and trebles, which pay big.

Betfair place returned 17.23. Profit on place only +6.23. Net profit @ 5% commission 5.93.

The records here only go back 6 days, mine include 2 previous ones. From the 8 days I make it 6 won and 19 placed from 77 runners, a win/place SR of almost 33%.

At these prices (and I've been refining the selections to include mostly only 8/1 and above, and increasingly getting more of those 20/1 and over) that's more than enough to get a healthy profit on singles at Betfair SP place only, with very small stakes win doubles and trebles added, though sometimes (well, until a big win) doing the latter by splitting up selections into groups as shown previously above.

Way to go is doing the place singles at 1% of bank on each selection, stakes for next day adjusted at end of each betting day. Initial bank 200 points. For illustration purposes make it a £200 bank, thus £2 per point to start with. I probably won't be posting these on the board each say though.
