THE JOIN RACINGTV MARES' NOVICES' HURDLE RACE (CLASS 4) (GBB RACE)

The Veterinary Officer reported that SUBWAY SURF (IRE), trained by Kim Bailey, appeared to show evidence of possible administration of a substance around its mouth. The trainer’s representative, the Veterinary Officer and an Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer were interviewed. As the Stewards could not be satisfied that SUBWAY SURF (IRE) had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of the race, they withdrew the mare and ordered it to be routine tested. They further ordered that a sample of the substance should be tested and referred the matter to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
