I have gone with course form of LIGHT THAT (15/2), who has a good record here. In 6 runs at Punchestown he has finished 262431, that includes 2 placed efforts in Grade 2 handicap at the festival from 1 lb higher mark. One below par effort (6th of 10, beaten 7.5 lengths) was in this race in 2017, also from 1 lb higher. That was returning after a break though, this time he should be fitter after a recent run on the flat and race also looks slightly less competitive than 2 years ago, so I am hopeful that he will improve on that. One concern is soft going (was soft to heavy in 2017) as he prefers better going.
Jockey Robbie Power’s other rides may also be worth a look, he has a very good record at this meeting, 12 wins and 11 places from 64 rides (+26 LSP) and usually has at least one winner most years. He missed yesterday as he was at Cheltenham but appears to have some good chances today.
