Chef De Troupe is as short as 1/2 to follow up under a penalty after last week’s easy win at Southwell, and it is very difficult to oppose him, there are no guarantees of course but on paper it looks a very good chance. It’s not a price most people would be comfortable backing at though, so I am throwing a couple of big prices behind it in hope we can get the forecast. 2nd fav Tingo In The Tale was an easy winner over c&d last time but it was his first win from 16 runs over hurdles and clearly that day was planned as he was gambled from 28/1 into 15/2, so not sure if he can follow it up. Raving Bonkers (20/1) is one of my two for the forecast spot, he has had only 5 runs over hurdles, and was sent off at only 6/1 on handicap debut (finished 4th of 9), was due to run in the race won by Chef de Troupe last week but was pulled out due to going, he is one of the unexposed ones and has place chances today. Other one is Friary Gold (40/1) who returns to hurdles after failing to finish last 3 runs over fences, cheekpieces are applied for first time and he is 5 lbs lower than when 5th of 12 (beaten 13 lengths) over this c&d just over a year ago, so there are reasons to hope that he could return to some sort of form.

Small straight forecasts - Chef de Troupe/Raving Bonkers & Chef de Troupe/Friary Gold

    Good luck

Bit unlucky, favourite won as expected, Raving Bonkers slipped up, he was better off with runner up Camlad Kingfisher on their last run so we don’t know what would have happened if he stayed on his feet. Friary Gold ran well enough too and looked like he might hold on for 2nd but finished 4th eventually.
