Rated at 72, this four-year-old gelding is significantly well-treated compared to his peak rating of 80. Trained by Hugo Palmer, he showcased renewed sharpness in his last outing at Windsor, where he finished a close fourth in an inadequate 5f race. Now returning to a more suitable distance of 5½f on good ground and dropping into class 5 company, he is primed to capitalise on this realistic mark with jockey Ross Coakley aboard.
Stewards report: Ross Coakley, the rider of THE FLYING SEAGULL (IRE), drawn 8, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slow to start. Coakley’s explanation that he was slow to remove the blindfold, due to the it getting caught on the visor, was noted.
