14TH OCTOBER 2018 | CHEPSTOW
Four to Chepstow today.
3.25 - Equus Millar has had three handicap hurdle wins from the last five outings and has gone from 108 to 131 in the process. He’s improved in line with that though and steps up to a class 2 event here, with no reason to think that he can’t make his presence felt again. Looks to be good each way value, has won over this trip (2m 3+f)and on good ground before, though the ground may be softer by the time racing starts, with steady rain this morning. Sam Twiston-Davies rides.
4.00 - Double Ross was 5th on his seasonal debut a couple of weeks ago at Perth and drops down 3lbs to 134 today. He’s gone well in this race the last two years, winning in 2016 from 147, then 4th last year from a pound higher, so if in anything like his best form, should have a very good chance. The Perth run did him good and he should go well today regardless of ground. Sam aboard.
4.35 - Ballymoy ran up a hat trick of hurdles wins following wind surgery at the end of last season, the last of which was his handicap debut from 132 in a good class 2 at Sandown. Up 7lbs for that, he looks more than capable of defying that particularly with the softer ground in his favour and we are hopeful of another very good run. Daryl Jacob rides.
5.10 - Ballyhill ran a little below par towards the end of last season but that followed a nice win over 2m 5f at Cheltenham in New Year’s Day when raised 5lb to 138. He’s had a good rest now since April and returns fresh on 134. Again the softening ground will help him, so a good run can be expected.
