Gibside won over course and distance here last summer and then followed that with a good win at York. Looks to be in similarly good form this year with a win at Catterick at the start of this month which he backed up with a good 3rd of 18 at York two weeks ago. He didn't run well in tis race last year but the much firmer ground will be in his favour this time.
Ravenscraig Castle hasn't won on the flat since he won here three years ago and he ran a blinder in this race last year when just beaten by a neck. He comes here in good nick as his last run was a 2nd over hurdles at Kelso where the reapplied cheekpieces seemed to do the trick, and the first time blinkers today should also help him.

On a Session is fairly consistent even though he hasn't won since last summer. Last time out he was a very good 2nd of 8 at Chester keeping on well despite travelling wide throughout and only going down by a head. A repeat of that today should see him in the mix.
Hale End is a bit inconsistent but he won a 16 runner handicap at Thirsk last month, doing a shade cosily in the end. He is up 4lb for that win but the form has been boosted as the runner up in the race won next time out.
