Backed a few today, most of them are big prices, hopefully get a winner or few placers.
2:05 Fontwell - WORKBENCH (6/1) clearly likes it around here, with 4 wins and a couple of 2nds from 8 previous visits to Fontwell. Each way bet 6/1, 2 places
3:00 Ascot - GREEN POWER (16/1), the only c&d winner in the race, and only 2 lbs higher than that win in August. And ran well gain here last month when 5th in a similar race but only beaten a length, 1 lb lower than that so should go close again on that form. Each way bet split 16/1 3 places, 12/1 4 places.
Noel Murless Stakes (3:35 Ascot) - INDIA (22/1) has come a long way since winning a class 5 handicap at Catterick in July, taking every step up in class in her stride with two more easy wins at same venue. She has to prove that she is not just a Catterick specialist, and this is another big step up to Listed class, but she might not have stopped improving yet, and fillies have a good record in this race having won two of last 3 runnings, in 2015 & 16 (there was no filly in the race in 2017) won by fillies rated 91 & 95, India is rated 88. Each way bet split 22/1 2 places, 11/1 3 places.
4:10 Ascot - NEVER SURRENDER (20/1) is on same mark as when a good 2nd at Haydock last month, and should run well again providing this isn’t one race too many (has had a busy season with 9 runs already). Each way bet split 20/1 3 places, 15/1 4 places.
Star Appeal Stakes (7:30 Dundalk) - INVERLEIGH (11/4) has the best form, and in my opinion he should be favourite. He won a strong Leopardstown maiden on debut before finishing 2nd in the Listed Blenheim Stakes. Ger Lyons has had 4 runners that ran in the Blenheim before running in this race.
2008 - Ohiyesa - 3rd in Blenheim, 5th of 10 (12/1) in Star Appeal
2009 - Mister Tee - 3rd in Blenheim, Won (4/1) Star Appeal
2011 - Bible Black - 6th in Blenheim, Won (12/1) Star Appeal
2012 - Tennessee Wildcat - 3rd in Blenheim, 2nd Of 10 (16/1) in Star Appeal
