    Well done peregrine.

Bit of a bizarre one with the horse that was leading in this race, that took the "wrong course" and ran out.

Was well clear and seemed to be going well and you could see the panic of the rest of the pack when they were not sure if he had slipped the field.

However the stewards did hold an enquiry and it looked on the whole that it was done to "jockey" error.

In the Racing Post it reported the following

"Amateur rider Aaron Fahey was suspended for 14 days by the Leopardstown stewards after his mount Lake Winnipesaukee took the wrong course off the final bend in the concluding bumper while in a clear lead and with the race possibly at his mercy.

The newcomer pulled his way to the front after about two furlongs and soon opened up a clear advantage. With half a mile to go, before they turned out of the back straight, the Arcadio gelding was still around 13 lengths clear and as they approached the home straight, the chasing group seemed to be making little impression on him. However, events took a turn at that point as Fahey seemed to steer his mount off the track and he ended up on the chase course.

In the inquiry which followed, Fahey stated to the stewards that his saddle had slipped forward, that his mount had been too strong to ride and through a lack of energy he was unable to steer his mount around the final bend onto the correct course.

However, the stewards found that Fahey had been negligent by misjudging the correct course and therefore had failed to attain his best possible placing and was banned for 14 days under rule 212.

The horse is trained by the rider's father Paul, who said: "He is a difficult horse and we haven't been able to run him in a schooling race, and this is the first day he was among horses on an open track. He did get very wound up and I don't really know what happened turning in. It's just one of those things and hopefully everyone will learn.".

    Great ride there by AP.

I always felt that having AP on your horse gave you what felt like a 5 lb pull against any other rider.

    Warrior in a finish.

I think the punishment is fair and thankfully his staff will remain employed.

I would like to think he is sincere in his statement after the hearing and he has learned a valuable lesson from this.

This may have set us back re the horse welfare subject but I have every confidence that this is a isolated incident with him.

What we must consider now is Gordon's well-being mentally because this must have placed a huge strain and pressure on him with all the publicly be it in the press, television and social media.

I do believe he will learn from it and indeed be a better man/trainer for it in the long run.

It does not matter where the "photo came from peregrine.

Think about it, It is the action that he committed in the "photo" and not the fact it has been publicised.

I do however accept that the fate of his staff is at serious risk now and I feel very sad for them (just think of the stable staff who cared for the horses that have been moved) and to a point for Gordon Elliot because this moment of madness as stained a very talented training career.

Love him or hate him he is a great racehorse trainer.

It is irrelevant who or indeed why someone posted the "photo".

The issue is the "photo" and the portray of this image.

This image has caused outrage, disgust, disappointment and sadness throughout the racing industry.

No one wants any of Gordon's staff to lose their jobs but sad to say it seems this may happen and I for one despite my disgust in the image would be sad to see this happen.

    From the Racing Post:
    FIRST PUBLISHED 9:23AM, MAR 2 2021

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) is investigating a video circulating on social media which shows an individual believed to be a jockey sitting on a dead horse on what appears to be a gallops.

After the video circulated on social media on Monday night, the IHRB released a statement on Twitter on Tuesday morning which read: "The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board is aware of further social media content circulating and the matter is under investigation."

The video shows a stricken horse on the floor and the individual involved moving to straddle the dead animal. It appears the body was set to be moved when the video was recorded.

Three others are shown in the close vicinity and laughs can be heard after the individual sits on the horse. The individual then pats the horse as he dismounts before the video ends.

A spokesman for the BHA said the regulator was aware of the video but would not be commenting further at this stage.

The video comes just days after an image of leading trainer Gordon Elliott sitting on a dead horse emerged on social media.

Elliott subsequently told the Racing Post he has let down the racing industry, his owners and his staff with an "indefensible moment of madness", with the sport uniting in condemnation of his actions and the BHA banning him from having runners in Britain while an investigation by the IHRB takes place.

No date for a hearing into the Elliott case has been confirmed by the IHRB.

    Agreed Asotobaw.

He should receive a lengthy ban and large fine.

This action has brought ALL horse racing into disrepute and all the issues surrounding racehorse welfare will be started again despite the superb care racehorses receive. This could set us back twenty years.

Unacceptable in everyway and there is simply no excuse.

I think his days as a top Irish national hunt trainer are numbered.

Personally I am disgusted by this photo and in all honesty hoped it was a hoax.

I cannot accept this explanation or indeed any excuse to do this.

Sad day for the sport and for his owners who have some big decisions' to make in the next few days, weeks and months.
